What to do if suddenly left without work

Psychologists say that losing a job is one of the most difficult experiences in a person’s life. We will tell you how not to unstuck and move forward, even in such difficult moments.

Identify urgent needs

The problem that should be taken care of first is finances. Chances are, you have mandatory monthly spending that can not be deferred. These are rent, loan or mortgage payments, utility bills, possibly tuition fees, food, medicine, necessities.

It will be very difficult to move on without closing these needs, so sit down and calmly calculate your budget for the next month or two. If you immediately take the bull by the horns and distribute the remaining savings, the risk of spending money on something unnecessary and being left without money will be much lower.

By the way, if you are renting a house, try to discuss the situation with the landlord, ask for a discount, do not hesitate – this is not uncommon now.

Don’t hesitate to find a job (at least temporarily)

You can search for a new job. Some companies do not suspend hiring, but rather actively recruit new ones. Others decided to “pull up” their online projects and are looking for remote workers.

So it is better not to delay the search for a new job, even a temporary one: firstly, you will receive a salary, and secondly when the competition among specialists increases, you will be safe.

Ask for help and help yourself

Do not be afraid or hesitate to ask for any help if you need it. Talk to family, reach out to friends, and take the opportunity to get a free consultation with a psychology or finance professional.

And if you have the strength and opportunities, do not forget to help others, because you have already passed the stage of selfishness.

As you know, by helping others we often get much more than we give. Be calm and active, stay optimistic, and everything will definitely work out.
